About
Like you, I am concerned about the direction and leadership of our Albuquerque Public School system. Too often the needs of our children take a back seat to politics and special interest groups. That has never been more clear than this past year when the APS Board continued to delay the reopening of schools.
I am an APS parent, an APS Education Foundation board member, a Girl Scout Troop leader, a two-time PTA president, a current member of PTA and FOL boards, a past president for the Junior League of Albuquerque and an active volunteer in our Albuquerque community.
I am running because the current APS Board is failing our children, the repercussions of which will last a generation unless we immediately change course. The APS Board repeatedly rejected the scientific evidence that clearly stated our kids could safely return to school, and now our children will be even further behind academically in a state that is already ranked last in the nation.
I am running because it is time that a parent with children currently attending APS had a voice in the decisions being made. Parents’ voices have been left out of the process for far too long and it is time that our voices are fairly represented on the school board.
I am running because it is time to shed the burden of mediocrity for APS. We have an incredibly vibrant and diverse community of students and it is time to provide them with the opportunities they need to succeed in a 21st century economy.
I hope to earn your vote over the next few months and to make APS a dynamic, innovative vessel for our children to become contributing members to society now and in the future.
